World and Car Graphic Preferences and Properties in NFS Undercover

Need For Speed Undercover might have some complex programming logic which might be making it little laggy even in PCs with very good configuration. There is a need for a new patch which may take care of some logics and bugs. A freely downloadable patch for NFSU would make it much interesting to play. The Patch Download for NFS Undercover can be expected very soon as there are talks on current works on Patch building for NFSU.

Atleast for now, it is very much necessary to understand the settings which could help in improving the performance of the game NFSU.

NFS Undercover has the good level of each option relating the Graphics of the Game which effect the normal performance of the game very greatly.

The Car detail should be least concerned in the game NFSU. The world is the factor is the one which should be concerned about. The player while playing the game, always looks at the edges of the roads, the far buildings and the items beside the road. The player rarely tends to look at the car he is driving. It is just a piece of the screen hanging in the center. In the game, hardly there comes a situation where the player needs to look at his car.

Also, the higher car detail does not make it realistic, rather it will look much like a toy piece which is intended to be fixed to the screen and the rest of the world is moving. I mean higher car detail makes it more unrealistic than the low car detail option.

As far as the World Detail is concerned in NFSU, it is better to have it at normal levels or it can be higher too. The world detail appears to take lesser Graphic processing than the car detail. Better to raise the World Detail. World Detail is the key for the appearance.

Coming to the Shadow option. Shadow helps in making the look realistic as normal. But surely the shadows option will take a good amount of Graphic Processing Capabilities.

All these options in NFS Undercover can show the best only if the resolution is set at a very good level. Like 1024x768 which can be good enough for a 15 inch Monitor.

A 1GB nVIDIA 8500GT Graphic Card appears to be helpless with a normal PC with debatable Processor Configuration. So, the game NFSU not only needs a good Graphics Processor, but there is more to do for the processor about the game logic in Undercover version.

Pink Slip in NFS Undercover - Car Selection - Lotus Eclipse

Pink Slip is the opportunity to take the rivals car when the rival is lost in the match. This will give player an additional car in his garage. The cars are very similar to the ones bought. But these cars may have upgraded previously. So, that is a better part.

Win a race after a few and there would be a first Pink Slip of all the cars participated in the racing. The opportunity should not be wasted. Which car to select is the question. The answer would be obviously Lotus Eclipse. This shows best statistical data in the indicators shown for each car. Also the look of the car is good enough.

The Handling is the major factor to be considered while selecting a car for the newbies. This is because the faster cars mostly have low handling and it makes them really heavy to drive. A faster car dashing all the path is slower than a slower car moving steadily. As said by some one "Slow and Steady Wins the Race". But for the experts, it does not matter how low the handling is, they can always take control of the car and always prefer to take the fastest and the one with good acceleration.

So, here three kinds of cars exist,
  • Ones with good handling - Good for newbies
  • Ones with good acceleration - Good for normal players
  • Ones with top speed - Good for Pros

OpenGL vs Direct3D Video Modes for Counter Strike

There are three different modes of Video output in Win XP. These are Direct3D, OpenGL and Software mode. The Software mode will run by making the video output into fragments and directly showing it as a picture or a user interface. The D3D and OpenGL are bit recommended modes for Video Output. The Software mode takes its turn when there is no possiblity for OpenGL and some incompatibility issues.

Linux uses OpenGL as there is no Direct3D option. But when there is an option for Windows PCs to have Direct3D, it is better because it is said to be faster than OpenGL. But the factor in these days not the configuration. So, OpenGL can be used for better quality of the Output Video.

OpenGL poses shows some incompatibility on Windows PCs without Graphic Cards, but there wont be any problem using the Direct3D option for 3D Gaming.

The game Counter Strike allows the users to select the required Video mode to play in. The option is shown in the Video Tab of the options window. If a user thinks his PC is slow and is resulting in low FPS, they can always switch to D3D. Also, sometimes the game Counter Strike directly reports some message after opening the application Counter Strike and return to Software mode of Video Output. The Software mode of Video output for the game Counter Strike will not have the Option to change alignment to right handed. So, the final option of the Video mode is Direct3D.

Solution to Fix Registry Problem - Administrator has Disabled Registry Editing for User Account

Registry is a section of the OS where all the information about the data of a software application is stored while installing the software. This Registry can be seen by giving the keyword regedit in the run command window.

Many games and software applications need to have their information stored in the Operating System's Registry to run their applications. These registry data should be added if they are not
in the registry previously. But in some cases because of virus attack or any other problem, this registry editing becomes problematic. And it shows an error report in one of these cases. as follows,
Registry Editing has been Disabled by Administrator.

This kind of message appers when there is some problem to the PC like a Virus attack. This makes it very difficult to fix without any third party software application which claims to solve it. But there is a very simple solution.

The Administrator has Disabled the Registry Editing for your account. This will lead you to a very simple solution by yourself. Just create another new account. Thats it, all the registry editing ca be done as usal.

Prince of Persia The Two Thrones Dump needs Registry Information Setup

Registry is the section where all the information about the installed software is stored for the Operating System like Windows XP. The Software writes some information about the data of the software which is used later for updating the software applications and also as a register to the Operating System.

Prince of Persia The Two Thrones which is the third part in its series is also an application which needs the data about the application to be written to the registry. This is done by default in the installation of the game. But there exists some cases when the game is dumped to some other drive in the hard disk and the OS may be re-installed. This is the case where, the setup of the registry is required to play the game Prince of Persia The Two Thrones. If the setup is not performed, the game wont be launched. To launch the game, the data about the game should be written in the registry.

The information can be added to the registry just by running the setup.reg file in the dumped folder. This will directly add the information to the registry of the Operating System.

The registry information addition is also required in the case where there is a new user added to the User Accounts in the OS. This new user cannot access the software applications which are not written in his registry. This also can be fixed by running the setup.reg file in the folder in which the application is installed.

As an alternative, the software application can always be re-installed to fix any kind of problem caused by this kind of changes in the registry or any loss of data either in registry or in the installation folder. It is always recommended to the user that re-installation should be performed in the cases similar to this.

Also, when the application is uninstalled the registry values remain in the registry for some applications and it is removed for some other kind of applications. This is also a point of note which may help in some cases of malfunctioning of the software application.

The Registry values can be seen to edit or get some information by typing regedit in the run option of Windows XP.

Basics of CS1.6 Server Hosting and Terms

What is Half-Life and What is Counter Strike,
Half-Life is the actual platform of the game and its modifications are Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, Natural Selection etc...

What is the difference between CS1.6 and CZero or CSCZ,
CS1.6 is a Mod for Half-Life and So is CZero but the difference is development of the game. Very similar to development of source version, this too is a version of the game.

What are AMX Mod X, Clan Mod, and Admin Mod,
These are the administration tools for administrating the game server easily. These are to be used by the Server Administrator and other need not worry about these.

What is Console and what are Commands,
Commands are sent to the server to change something in the game. Console is the window from which these commands can be sent to the server. AMX Mod X, Admin Mod and other mods help the administrators minimise their effort in giving these commands.

What is HLDS,
HLDS is the dedicated server for any Mod of Half-Life. Listen server is one which can be started by a user directly joining in the game.

What is HLTV,
HLTV is an application which lets the users around the world to see a Clan Game or a League Match live through the Internet. This helps in increasing the number of spectators. The HLTV joins the game as a spectator does, but it will show some 1000 more players the same game. This HLTV has a with or without delay kind of option too.

What is Rcon,
Rcon is remote control for the console running in one computer to control it from another computer. For this the rcon password entered in the two computer must be same, and the client can control the server console.

To know about any of these clearly, see the posts in the blog.

Counter Strike 1.6 Dedicated Server Help Post - Complete HLDS Help

What is Counter Strike 1.6 Dedicated Server:
It is a application which can run the Counter Strike 1.6 engine in a Public or Private Server. The application can be installed without installing the game itself. The application will be included in the game while installing the game CS1.6. The Dedicated server is for the public and is intended for other players to join the game. Where as the Listen Server is one in which the player himself will start the game while the game is being played himself.

How to Host:
This Dedicated Server application can be launched by the executable hlds.exe, the one which is commented as HLDS launcher. This HLDS is the Half-Life Dedicated Server. Once the application is opened, it will show up a GUI. The GUI contains some options and tabs. The game which is intended to run on the server should be given in the options of the first Tab. It includes the following,

Game,
The Game is the Mod which the server should start. It includes CStrike, DOD, CZero, etc... These Mods are all the sub parts of the game Half-Life. CStrike stands for Counter Strike, either CS1.6, CS1.5 or Other versions.

Server Name,
Server Name is the name which should be shown while showing the server in the server browser of the other players GUI. The Server Name is to be specified clearly so that the other players can easily know what game is going on and what mod is being used in the game.

Map,
Map is the starting Map, the Default map can be changed to the required map by changing the map in InstallationFolder\Platform\Config\Server.VDF. This file will save the data previously given. So, to be specific, this is not the default file but it keeps on changing.

Network,
The Network is obviously LAN or Internet.

Max Players,
Max Players can be 32.

UDP Port,
The is the port defined universally for all the PCs. These ports from 27015 to 27020 and more are all dedicated to the Half-Life applications. If you want to setup another server in the same PC, then you need to give the port different to that of previous one. If some error is reported as shown below,

Could not allocate dedicated server IP Port 27015

This may be the case when you are trying to start a second Dedicated Server in the same PC or you may have previously started a Listen Server and Closed it, but that game is still running.

Rcon Password,
The rcon password which is used to control the server from another computer. If you think you will be administrating the server all the time this should be neglected. To know about rcon see the previous posts in this blog.

Once the Dedicated Server is started, you can see the Tabs on the top of GUI. The first Tab is Configure

Configure,
This Tab lets the Administrator change the Cvars of the game. The Cvars included are Round Limit, Win Limit, Buy Time, Freeze Time, Teams Limit, Time Per Round, Bomb Time, Starting Money, Friendly Fire, Flash Light, Foot Steps, Team Balance, Camara Angle,

Some more CVars can be added to these by changing the parameters in the GameServerConfig.VDF. This file allows the administrator to add any number of CVars to the GUI in the HLDS Applicated after launched.

The other Tabs include Statistics, Players, Bans, Console.

The Console can be operated from that tab. The condump command can be used to dump the console to any .txt file in the game DIR.

Can CTs Collect and Plant a Bomb? Get this if you want to

CTs can see the bomb dropped in front of them but they cannot take it and hide it some where. This is not fair isn't it, so this is the plugin for you by alliedmods - CT Bomb Stealer. You can download the plugin CT Bomb Stealer and install in your AMX Mod X to do this.

Download it from alliedmods website follow the steps below,

  1. You can download the ctbombstealer.sma file from the website.
  2. Just place the source file .sma of the plugin in cstrike\addons\amxmodx\scripting\ folder.
  3. Now run the compile.exe file in the same scripting folder.
  4. The out put file will be placed in compiled folder.
  5. It will be named as the source file and the extension as .amxx. Like ctbombstealer.amxx.
  6. This file should be placed in the plugins folder of amxmodx folder.
  7. Now in amxmodx\configs\ folder, you can see a file named plugins.ini.
  8. Now add a line, the name of the .amxx file including .amxx, at the end of the file.
  9. The line should look like this ctbombstealer.amxx
  10. There should not be anything in the begining of that line
  11. Now go to, amxmodx\configs\ folder and open modules.ini file
  12. Remove any semi-colons in front of the line containing these words Fakemeta
  13. Doing the above step will enable the two modules
  14. If the Semi-Colons are put, then the modules will be disabled.
  15. Just run the game, and the plugin will be loaded.

This plugin can be controlled with the commands given in the same page from where you downloaded the plugin source file. Just see them and know what is used for what.

With this plugin and controlling commands, CTs can collect the dropped bomb and plant it somewhere. They can take it somewhere and hide it so that the T's cannot find it. It looks great to see a CT with a Bomb.

Call of Duty 4 Mod Plugin for AMX Mod X in Counter Strike 1.6

Call of Duty 4 Mod has been available for AMX Mod X to change the game play of Counter Strike 1.6. In this mod, a Grenade is dropped just after a player is killed. This grenade can damage the enemies and kill them.

The Plugin can be downloaded from amxmodx official website. The plugin once downloaded needs to be installed in the AMX Mod X installed in Cointer Strike 1.6 previously.

  1. Just place the source file .sma of the plugin in cstrike\addons\amxmodx\scripting\ folder.
  2. Now run the compile.exe file in the same scripting folder.
  3. The out put file will be placed in compiled folder.
  4. It will be named as the source file and the extension as .amxx.
  5. This file should be placed in the plugins folder of amxmodx folder.
  6. Now in amxmodx\configs\ folder, you can see a file named plugins.ini.
  7. Now add a line, the name of the .amxx file including .amxx, at the end of the file.
  8. Now go to, amxmodx\configs\ folder and open modules.ini file
  9. Remove any semi-colons in front of the line containing these words Fakemeta and Hamsandwich
  10. Doint the above step will enable the two modules
  11. If the Semi-Colons are put, then the modules will be disabled.
  12. Just run the game, and the plugin will be loaded.

See the commands which are used to control this mod. The commands will be given at the same page where you are downloading the package.

The commands for the Call of Duty 4 Plugin are

  • md_on - enables or disable the plugin
  • md_hasgrenade - drop grenade only when players have it or always
  • md_grenades - HE grenade, Flash, Smoke also can be included
  • md_mult - number of times the normal damage to be done by a grenade

The desciption for each command is given in the alliedmods website.

Changing Crosshair Color to Various Colors in CS1.6

If you see in the config.cfg file, there is a command line showing

cl_crosshair_color "250 0 250"
This is the command for chosing the required color for the crosshair in Counter Strike 1.6. The colro can be chaged to various colors different than those shown in the Multiplayer Options Menu. There are only four to five basic colors shown in the Multiplayer Options Menu. This command can change the color of the crosshair to as many as 16777216 colors.

These colors can be obtained by giving their corresponding numbers in the command. Each argument ranges from 0-255 and it should not exceed 255. The first argument is for Red, then the second one for Green and the third for Blue. If an argument is dominating the other, then that colors is shown better in the crosshair. All 255's mean white and all 0's mean black colors.

How to Change Control Text Color or Chat Color in Counter Strike 1.6

The Control Text color is the color that is shown for the chat text in the left bottom. This color can be changed to required color from the default orange. The command for this is
con_color "250 250 250"
This color can be anything and it can be changed from 0 to 255. It should not exceed 255. All 0's mean black and all 255's mean white. You can see the colors and their corresponding numerical combinations in the Paint application of windows. Select the color and see the numbers. Give those numbers in this command.

There is no need to give the command each time you start the game. It will be saved. Or else, you can directly see the command in the Config.cfg. Edit there and it is for ever. In the same config.cfg you can see the crosshair color and size too.

Editing GameMenu.res to Change the Menu Labels in Counter Strike 1.6

The file GameMenu.res keeps all the data about the game menu while showing the Graphical User Interface (GUI) to the user. The Menu labels can be chaged accordingly to suit your ease of use.

For example, the Create Server can be changed to Start One. Quit can be chaged to Enough.

The GameMenu.res file can be seen in cstrike\resource\ folder. And it can be opened with normal text editor like Notepad or Wordpad. It looks like this,

"GameMenu"
{
"1"
{
"label" "Resume"
"command" "ResumeGame"
"OnlyInGame" "1"
}
"2"
{
"label" "Disconnect"
"command" "Disconnect"
"OnlyInGame" "1"
"notsingle" "1"
}
"4"
{
"label" "#GameUI_GameMenu_PlayerList"
"command" "OpenPlayerListDialog"
"OnlyInGame" "1"
"notsingle" "1"
}
"8"
{
"label" "-----------------------------"
"command" ""
"OnlyInGame" "1"
}
"9"
{ "label" "Listen Server"
"command" "OpenCreateMultiplayerGameDialog"
}
"10"
{
"label" "Search"
"command" "OpenServerBrowser"
}
"11"
{ "label" "Options"
"command" "OpenOptionsDialog"
}
"12"
{
"label" "Quit"
"command" "Quit"
}
}

The label line in each case can be changed to required word, but the command should be same.

Solution for Need For Speed Undercover Crash Problem

There are reports that the game Need For Speed Undercover is crashing frequently at introduction video at the spot where the Helicopters chase the Car.

A similar kind of problem is seen in the case of the game Prince of Persia Warrior Within. So the solution for that game may also solve the problem of this game Need For Speed Undercover. The Solution for that game Prince of Persia Warrior Within is given by a friend in a forum on fileforums website.

The Solution for the game Prince of Persia Warrior Within was to move a video file to another location which was corrupted or damaged someway leading to a crash to windows when ever the game was run. So when the game tries to access that moved file. It wont be accessible in that location so the game skips that video segment. Similar kind of problem may be occurring in the game Need For Speed Undercover. Just try removing the introduction video files by moving to to another location. This may solve the problem.

Another solution may be to remove any previous profile aliases which may also affect the game and leading to crashes in Need For Speed Undercover.

Many games like these may be crashing because of the problems as simple as these. So, it is better to be patient to solve the problem taking the help of the web.

In most of the cases, when ever there is a crash like this, there would be an error report showing the information of any file which is responsible for the crash. These crashes can be solved just by replacing the files with new ones in the cases where the files are .dll files. If the files are .exe files, it is better to re-install the application.

Unlocking Artwork Gallery and Sand Credits in Prince of Persia The Two Thrones Profiles

In the game Prince of Persia The Two Thrones, there is a feature for illustration of the game series including Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Prince of Persia Warrior Within, and Prince of Persia The Two Thrones.

There will be an Artwork Gallery in Extra Features option in every Profile created. The Artwork Gallery shows the Pictures and Videos of the Games in the Prince of Persia Series. Unlocking the Videos and Pictures in the Artwork Gallery can be done by gaining Sand Credits in the game. The Sand Credits may be present in the Sand Gates or from normal Artworks Chests. Based on the number of Sand Credits in a profile, the Pictures and Videos can be unlocked.

These pictures and videos show the weapons used by the prince, all kinds of swords and daggers and the way the price uses his weapons to kill the enemies. Videos of different Combo Attacks can also be seen.

The better part of this extra feature in the game POP:TTT is that it shows the info and illustration of the previous games too. That is Prince of Perisa Sands of Time and Warrior Within too.

Bonus Health Spots and Powers in Prince of Persia The Two Thrones

In the game Prince of Persia The Two Thrones, there are some spots from where you can gain bonus health. These places are slightly hidden from the normal paths. If observed keenly, these are visible and can be identified as the some bonus health spots very easily.

One such spot can be seen with a flag covering the path. The bonus health increases around 10% each time. Such bonus health spots can be seen at many places and the total health exceeds full circle and turns back.

The powers can be obtained from the sand gates once they are neutralized. These Powers include Eye of Storm, an extra Sand Tank etc... The Eye of Storm power lets the surroundings look much slower than himself, by increasing the reflex speeds.

The game has a total of 6 Sand Tanks out of which only some will be available for use. The Sand Tanks are activated if you get the Sand Tank power from the Sand Gates. Some new attacks are shown when you come across some new weapons.

Download CS1.6 Demos of League Matches

Counter Strike demos are the files of the format .dem, which are recorded while playing the game in Dedicated Servers or the Personal Console. These demos let the players see how they played in the game or even for others to see how the player has played.

These demos can be recorded in the game by command record "filename". This saves the demos as filename.dem in the game directory. That is cstrike or czero. This and can be viewed later by the command, playdemo, viewdemo "filename". These demos can be seen through many view points if it is recorded in HLTV or if it is recorded in normal Personal Console, these demos just show the view of the current user.

There are lot of sites hosting these demo files of CS1.6. Further more, these downloads are free to download. These files can be dowloaded and played in the game or skplayer. The skplayer can be downloaded for free from the internet.

The Sites Hosting CS1.6 Demo Files,

These hosts provide a great coverage of demos of manyleague matches held in the years. These demos are all the Multi-Point View demos, like the ones recorded in the HLTV. This enables you to see the game of your favourite player. So, you can view the game from the angle you like. The better part in HLTV.org is that, the demos section gives compete information of the teams played and other demo file info. Also, you can browse based on the map and team.

All that you need to do is just download the Demo files of CS1.6 from these websites. Extract the files if it is a package. The package can be opened by winrar even if it is tarball gz2 forms. These files, .dem files, must be placed in the cstrike directory of you CS1.6 installation. Just open the game Counter Strike 1.6 and give this command in the console,

  • viewdemo "filename of demo file"

This file name may appear too big, so it is better to rename these files once they are extracted to a shorter fielname. The filename does not affect the demo in any form. The usage of viewdemo command is better over other commands because, the viewdemo command also shows up a Demo Player when the demo starts. The Speed of the Demo Playback and other options can be controlled with this Demo Player. The other commands does not show out this Demo Player.

Also, the demos can be downloaded from many other sites which include websites fnatic, sk-gaming etc.

Post Tip:

The download of any kind of resource can be found in some files hosted in websites through google search with the usage of keywords like,

  • index of cstrike/maps for maps
  • index of cstrike/ .dem for demos

Can the Installed Games be Dumped to DVD-ROMs to Play Later

The Answer is Yes sometimes and No may times.

Whats the use of dumping installed games in DVD-ROMS? The answer is there are many advantages. Like the games can isolated from virus attacks. The installation process can be skipped when ever you want to play the game after a long time or a format. The hard disk space can be saved. The PC does not get slowed down for istallation.

But there is a problem. The Games generally not only use the files in the installation folder rather they use many files in the windows and other folders. These are generally the .dll files. For the same reason, a user can not run dumped games. It shows an error like "File not found d3dx9_34.dll/d3dx9_35.dll re-installation may fix the problem". These files may not be present in the windows installation and will be installed while installing the game. Also, the Games not only read the files in the installation folders, but also they write something in the files many times. Examples of these files which are written by the game are the profile save files. So this makes it not possible to dump the games into ROMs to access the games later.

But there are many games which does not pose any errors when there are being played. So, these games can always be dumped in to ROMs to play later. The Game when loading will get all the required files in to the RAM. You can play for as much time as you want and you can take the ROM out. The problem here is that, the games releasing in these days are of much bigger size that of normal DVD-ROM. You must have the Dual Layer DVD writable disks to fit these in.

But the games can be surely installed in the Flash Drives which are capable of both reading and writing the data into the files. But the problem with the Flash Drives is that you wont maintain a handful of Flash Drives daily, but you do play more number of games than that. Also, we never store the Flash Drives, they are in daily use.

128 bit Operating System for Gaming

It is great to have the Operating Systems of 128 Bit to have the games played with out any lag in the systems. The games need to a greater performance of the Computers when compared to most of the normal PC applications that are in domestic use around the world daily. The 128 bit Operating System should increase the performace of the PC theoritically to four fold than the 32 bit OS what is in wide use present day. This is based on the hypothesis that 128 bit OS is capable of processing 128 bits of data in each cycle, where as it is just 32 in 32 bit OS.

The key here is that the programming of the game also should be done in the way that it uses 128 bits of data per cycle. Or in other words, 128 bit software compatible to 128 bit OS. The Graphic Cards of nVIDIA in use around world today are also 128 bit supporting hardware. But when does they come in use. Awaiting the 128 bit OS, and of course, 128 bit games from those like EA and Activision.

NFS Undercover Crash Problems and Lag in the game

NFS Udercover users report problems like frequent crashes and lag. Many users are reporting the some error in forums too. Some experienced the crash problems after re-installation. The NFSU crashes when it starts to load the video, when it is re-installed. This might be related to the saved profiles of NFSU, since this is the time when the saved profiles in the My Documents are to be loaded. The saved profile may appear corrupted to the new installation of NFSU when it tries to load the profiles. The game may face the problem with the previous saved profile. Or this may not affect the game, there should be some other problem.

Also, the game NFSU appears to be programmed with too complex logic or something like that. This conclusion is drawn because, even the PC which are full-filled the minimum requirements of the game NFSU appear to be lagging while in the game. Also, the PC with much better configuration are also facing the same problem of lag in the game. Not only this, but the game runs quite normally for sometime and suddenly sticks to a particular position at a particular area in the map to load the environment and world around, then the game resumes normally. Some thing like a Page Fault occurs. This type of problem can be associated with any of the components of the PC like RAM, Processor, GPU, Hard Disk too.

The lag in the game appears to be least concerned with the settings of the game, especially the Graphic Options. The game shows almost same lag when the game is set to least graphic details and highest graphic details.

Some of the reports also say, that all the cars are not unlocked even after the completion of 100% profile. This may be due to the reason that the game also has some cars to be unlocked after giving the cheat codes. Like some of the cars showing in the cars folder are spare for the cheats of NFSU.

How to Change Menu Labels in Counter Strike 1.6

In the game Counter Strike 1.6, you can change the GUI as you like. The game can be completely customizable. Every where there would be clear information shown in each file which gives you information on how the game starts and runs. And hence, you can always edit these customizable settings of the game as you like which makes your work easier or which makes you feel good.

For changing the Menu Labels in the Menu Screen, you need to go to cstrike\resources\GameMenu.res. There you can see some lines with the same words as they appear in Menu Screen. So, you can type what ever word you want there, like intead of "Quit" word you can put "Bored for Now" or "Enough for Now", instead of some "Resume" you can put some other word.

For changing the Command menu items which appear in the game when pressed "h", the default key, you need to do as indicated below,

Go to commandmenu.txt in your cstrike folder. Open it with any normal and basic text editor. It looks like a tree of items, like a C language program. Don't worry, it not like it anyways. It consists of some menu items and some sub menu items. You can compare it with the menu you get when you press "h". Make a backup of that file, because you are going to edit it. Paste this code in the commandmenu.txt file.

// This is the command menu..!
// The menu that appears when u press "h"...!

Create Videos from dem files in Counter Strike with Fraps and WeGame

The .dem files are the demo files which store the data related to the input to the game like, the key presses in the Keyboard, Mouse clicks or Joystick input in the game Counter Strike while playing. When the demo is been played, these inputs are again given to the engine and the output is displayed as the playback in Counter Strike.

It is always better to record demos, before directly making the movies as the direct recording takes more memory usage and may slow down the game and the recording performance. There are three methods of recording a Video. These include the methods by Fraps, Wegame, Video Mach.

Fraps uses the Video output of the screen to directly record it as a video. Wegame also does the same thing. But with Video Mach or any other sotware of such kind, you need to record movie in the Counter Strike. This will give the output as a series of images saved in the cstrike folder. These images should be clubbed and made as a motion picture. For this the Video Mach Software is helpful.

Comming to the clarity of the video output, all are ok. But with Fraps, you need to spend some 2GB of Disk Space just for 5minutes of Video. Wegame is optimal based on the settings. In the third case too, the each image saved will be around 1.5MB. 30 frames per second will give out 50MB per minute.

Movie editing can be done by using the Adobe Premier or by Windows Movie Maker Softwares. Both are equally good. Adobe Premier's latest versions seem to have better features.

With Fraps or Wegame, you just need to install the software. That will start the application automatically on startup. When you start any game, you can see FPS on the top left corner of the game view. This shows the FPS possible. In the case of Fraps, you just need to press F9 to start recording the video and the same key to stop it too. Now the output video will be saved in c:\Fraps folder. You can see the video wih VLC or Mplayer or any other media player. F10 will save a screenshot. WeGame also follows similar procedure to record the videos.

Settings will greatly effect the lag in the game while recording the videos. It is always better to use the same FPS for recording and in the game settings. You can change FPS of the game by giving the command "fps_max 30" in the console of the Counter Strike game. This will change the Frame Rate to 30. Also videos are mostly made with 30 Frames per second itself.

How to Add Admins and Give Access Flags in AMX Mod X

What is AMX Mod X:

To know what is AMX and for what purpose is it used, you may need to see the other posts of this blog, but very briefly, AMX Mod X is a Server Administration and Game Play Changing Tool for Cs1.6 or any version of CS.

How to install AMX Mod X:

For this, you must go to the other posts, it cannot be briefed.

How to add Admin in AMX Mod X:

In AMX Mod X, you can add number of admins who can control the server with out the necessity of the Rcon password. Let me explain you clearly,

To add an Admin, write a line like the one shown below, in the users.ini file. The location of the users.ini file is ...\cstrike\addons\amxmodx\configs\users.ini.
"Name/IP" "" "abc....(all the flags)" "c/d"

The last part of the line, that is c/d is dependent on what parameter are you giving in the first part of the line. Use c for name and d for IP. See the flags explained in users.ini file to confirm this. The second parameter is for password. This is amx password and can be given in config.cfg. This can be neglected if you give the IP. This is useful if there is another users trying to access the admin privileges by changing his name to the Admins name. So, you need to give some password in the second field. The same password should be set by the Admin whom you are giving the privileges to. This can be done by adding this line in the config.cfg of his CS1.6 like this
setinfo _pw "password"

This line hould be added to either config.cfg or userconfig.cfg. The _pw is the value of amx_password_field. If you are willing to use another variable, you can do that by the command amx_passwors_field "variable". This is also present in amxx.cfg. There is no difference between these two configs. Now that you have added him as the admin, even without Rcon, the user who is granted the Admin privileges can do everything that admin can do.

What are AMXX Flags:

Some times, you may want to give him access to only some commands like, map changes etc. You don't want him to use kick or any other command like that. So, what you should do is to give that flags pertaining to only those which you want him to do. This can be done by seeing the corresponding flags and putting those in the third part of the line. If you give only "j" in the third part of the line, he can just change the map.

Also, he can use only the amx_map command to change the map and cannot use changelevel command. This is because, amx commands can only be accessed like this.

Some Examples:

  • "192.168.1.137" "temp" "j" "d" - This grants the user with that IP to commands that change map only. That too amx_map and not changelevel command. He should use setinfo _pw "temp" to get the access.
  • "Temp" "temp" "j" "c" - The user with the name Temp can get the access if he has correct password set in setinfo _pw.
  • "192.168.1.137" "temp" "j" "de" - There is no password needed, just he will be granted access.
  • "Temp" "*" "abcdefghijklmnopqrstu" "c" - The user Temp is given admin privileges to all the commands of AMX. This is because all the flags are added in the third parameter. And his password set in _pw can be anything.

Now, if you want to give all the users a certain level of access, you can do that by going to the amxx.cfg file of AMX Mod X. You can see that line in the beginning of amxx.cfg saying default access. That means, all the users will be given that access. amx_default_access "j" is the command for it, to use it in the middle of the game.

Also, if you want to give the users access based on a single file or plugin, you can do that. This can be done by seeing the corresponding flags in the file cmdaccess.ini in the same folder as users.ini. In that file, an access flag is given to each of the plugin files. This makes it easier to grant some command access to the users which are in a single plugin.

Download Prince of Persia The Two Thrones Profiles and Save Files

Prince of Persia The Two Thrones is the third game in its series developed by Ubisoft. It a story based game. The Prince of Persia The Two Thrones takes more than a day to complete it normally. You can have a look at the games progress with the profiles completed by other players just by copying their profile and pasting it in your installation.

What To Do:

Here is a package consisting of a profile named Temp and the folder contains saved files more than 50 in number. Just Download it. Extract the files. These saves are named in the game, according to the place. But these files appear as just normal files in the folders. Like Save0.SAV, Sav50.SAV etc... You can see a folder named Temp. Just Copy Paste it in POP3Profiles folder of your POP3 The Two Thrones installation. These files are from a profile played at normal difficulty level. This profiles is not complete too. If you have the completed Profiles you can upload that in a file sharing website like Rapidshare, Megaupload and put the download link here as a comment to this post.

Download POP3 TTT Profiles:

Download Link: POP TTT Profile

The Saved files are named as follows in the game Prince of Persia The Two Thrones, the first is the latest save.
  • The King's Road
  • The Royal Workshop
  • The Canal
  • The City Gardens
  • The Upper City
  • The Plaza
  • The Bowery
  • The Market District
  • The Market Palace
  • The Temple
  • The Temple Roof Tops
  • The Balconies
  • The Arena Tunnel
  • The Arena
  • The Lower City
  • The Tunnels
  • The Ruined Palace
  • The Trapped Hallway
  • The Throne Room
  • The Palace
  • The Palaca Balcony
  • The Fortress
  • The Royal Chambers
  • The Ruined Palace

About the Profile:

Firstly, the Profile is for the game Prince of Persia The Two Thrones (POP 3 TTT). The profile has saves up to the state where the prince rides the Horse Cart for the second time. That is just after the escape from the Burning Building. There is a Save just after the Burning Building. Here the Horse Cart ride starts. You need to complete the Horse Cart ride, then you will face two enemies. One with an Axe Kind of Weapon and the Other with a Sword. You will just have the Dagger.

Comming to the Life, Combos, Powers, Attacks and Sand Tanks. You have all the six Sand Tanks Available, Activated and Filled. The Life bonus is gained twice. More than 200 Sand Credits. The Eye of Storm, Slow Down Time, power is available. It can be used by Tapping "R" key in the keyboard. The Block+R gives attack in all directions. This can be used when you are surrounded by many enemies. Almost all the Sand Gates are closed and may be some are left. So, some of the powers may be missing in this profile given here.

Some of the save files may be missing, but the stating and the state described are the two extremes present in this package of save under the profile Temp. The Profiles.DAT file is also included in this package. The actual name of the profile was DMSS. So, check it out in case if any problem is created.

Download Fully Completed Profile of Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare

Call of Duty is a most massively played multi player game in the Internet. It has both single player and multi player profiles saved separately. Here is the package of the save files of one of the Single Player Profiles.

The Profiles contains different stages where the game has been saved, with more than 20 files. These file names itself describe the state of the game and you can follow that state.

Download COD4 MW:

Download Link: COD4_Profile

What to Do:

Once you finish downloading the file given above, extract the files. The files are of .svg format. These files should be put in the Save folder of COD4MW\Profiles\Name\Save\. This will add these saves to the current active profile which you are using. These saved files in that folder can be loaded in the game. You can start the game form that point of the game and start playing from there.

The Task actually contains 5 different parts, one of which is the introduction type of thing and the final one is a supplementary kind of thing. In the middle three are different missions to complete a task. It is divided into Act I, Act II, Act III. These Acts contain different stages and sub-tasks kinds. Start the game in the single player application and go to the select mission option and you will understand everything.

Download Fully Completed Profiles of Need For Speed Most Wanted

Many versions are released after the NFS Most Wanted Version of Need For Speed, but they are not as cool as NFS Most Wanted is. The Need For Speed Most Wanted is unique in its own way. The latest version, NFS Undercover is slightly similar to NFS Most Wanted in the sense of engaging races illegally etc...

Download NFS MW Profiles:

Download Link: 2 NFSMW Profiles.

What to Do:

Once you finished downloading the file given in above download link, extract the files in it and place the folders exactly as they are in C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\NFS Most Wanted Profiles folder.

What it Does:

NFS Most Wanted program when starts to run will load these profile files and uses them as aliases. These aliases have the information of how much the game has been finished and what the other settings are. Once you have put the downloaded NFSMW Profiles, you can select the Aliases Temp or TempJump.

Profile Temp:

You can see the profile Temp is completed up to 85%. All the Blacklist #s are defeated. But there are small race events and bounty events remaining in the Blacklist.

Profile TempJump:

The other Profile TempJump is intended to just play the game at the end. That is just to Jump to another city while the police are chasing you in the BMW Car.

Whats the Task:

These Profiles have all the cars unlocked and many cars bought, like Benz, Ford, Lamborghini, to the Garage. And many cars are re-tuned and upgraded in the performance by packages Nitrous, Tyres and Engines. All the Cars are set to their best. If you think making bounty is a difficult task, never worry about it. Just see the post given in this blog previously, and you will be able to make tons. You can select which ever car you like. The BMW Car is painted in Black and White and the Porche with Red and White. Now its up to you to give a test ride and complete the remaining part of the Profile and make it 100% complete.

If you have your own completed profiles, you can upload the files in the Internet in the websites like Rapidshare, Megaupload, Sendspace, 4shared etc. You can paste the Download Link here as a comment so that others can download your Profiles to play. 100% Complete Profile is also not interesting as there is nothing to do. So, even Partially Complete Profiles also can be uploaded to let the others defeat the final members of the Blacklist. Defeat Blacklist #1 Razor, that's the Task.

File Not found d3dx9_34.dll reinstalling may solve the problem.

This is generally caused because of the missing file d3dx9_34.dll. It will occur mostly when you install a game in the C:\ Drive and you want to transfer it to another drive by copying the dump, to re-install Win XP. But when you do it, this error shows up "File Not found d3dx9_34.dll reinstalling may solve the problem". You can fix this problem just by getting the file d3dx9_34.dll and placing it in c:\windows\system32 if using 32 bit WinXP. Or c:\windows\system if using 64 bit WinXP after your installation. You can get the file from Internet or by any other source.

Not only this, in many cases where it reports the same error, this will be the reason. Just get the file and put it in the place as indicated above, c:\windows\system32 if using 32 bit WinXP. Or c:\windows\system if using 64 bit WinXP. Or sometimes, this may be solved by re-installing DirectX.

Hope you got the solution.

Add PodBots in Fy_Snow and Any New Maps in CS 1.6

For adding PodBots to any Map in Counter Strike 1.6, it needs waypoint files. These are named pwf files. You can download them from the Internet. They appear as fy_snow.pwf, aim_map.pwf, scoutzandknivez.pwf ect... These files shoul be placed in WPTDefault folder of PodBot folder. You can create your own way point files as discussed in the previous posts of this blog. That post gives you complete information of how to do it. For now, a brief explanation in a crude way is here.

  1. Just start the map you want to play.
  2. Type this command in the console "pb wpmenu".
  3. Press 1-Add Wapoint.
  4. Then again press the same command in the console "pb wpmenu".
  5. Now press 8-Save Waypoints.
  6. Now Press the same command "pb wpmenu".
  7. Now press 9-Options.
  8. Now press 1-On/Off.
  9. The map will start in 5 seconds.
  10. When the Map restarts. Just type this command in the console "pb add".
  11. Add as many bots as you want.

That's it. This must solve your problem. This needs to be done only once. every time the map is started you will be able to join and play with bots. This is possible for any new map. This method lacks map information for the bots. But you can play with them normally.

For complete creation of Way Point File with Goals, Targets and T's and CT's Important Points, you need to see the previous posts in this blog. If you complete it, you can upload your .pwf file to the Internet to help other download it and use it directly.

Stunt GP and Acclaim Revolt Racing Games and Downloads

Acclaim Revolt vs Stunt GP:

Stunt GP is a Racing Game similar to Acclaim Revolt Racing Game. The Acclaim Revolt racing Game includes some powers like Electricity, Battery, Rockets, etc... But in the case of Stunt GP, the key is its Graphical Quality and Game Play. Both are basically very small games appear to be designed for children. Both have the option for playing Multi-Player in LAN or Internet.

Stunt GP Overview:

Stunt GP starts with racing in circuits and some Stunt Arenas. You will be given some time in which you need to make your best score. The score is given for different combos and stunts you do while jumping in the arena. In normal circuit racing you can use Nitro Boost Kind of thing to increase the speed by using battery power. The Boost can be used by tapping Ctrl key in the Keyboard. You can recharge the cars just by going to a pit stop kind of by pass. You loose some time in going to the recharging passage. So you need to be calculated to decide when to go to the recharge passage and after how many rounds. The battery is discharged in case of any damage occurred to the car. So, it is an unwanted loss of battery power.

Acclaim Re-volt Overview:

In case of Acclaim Revolt, the battery power is unlimited. The task is to just come first in the race no matter what you do. You can obstruct the other cars from over taking you etc. A power is gained each time the car touches the strike symbol in yellow, floating just above the road. The power obtained is random and can be used by tapping Ctrl key in the Keyboard.

The powers include Electricity, in which you can switch on electricity when ever wanted to give a electric shock to the nearby cars. This shock will stop the cars by 2 seconds before they start accelerating. The battery power enables the car move faster than before for certain time. The Oil will make other cars skid and slip to lose their control. The Ball will obstruct the cars in some narrow paths. Rockets can be used to hit the other cars in front of the car up to some range. The star power stops all the cars for a second. Water bags, can be used to hit the cars in front etc...

Multi-Player Support

Being multi-player these games are really exciting to play against human players in the LAN or Internet.

Download Demos of Stunt GP and Acclaim Revolt:

You can download the demos of Stunt GP and Acclaim Revolt from gamespot.com for free trial. The site also allows you to buy the games full versions.

FPS Games for Linux

Linux is a free OS. It is the fastest developing OS. Most of the server around the world use Linux as their platform as it has many advantages and easier programming facilities. Then why not for games. Games like Couter Strike and Call of Duty seem to have servers running in Linux. It is good to have runnable games in Linux to encourage the increasing number of users of Linux around the World.

The Games like EA Sports Fifa, NFS, etc should be supporting Linux too. Linux's baisc video mode is OpenGL which is a widely supported mode for all the games. With good GPUs available form nVIDIA and ATI, it might never be a problem for Linux to process games of such Graphics. The supported Games are the most massively played multiplayer games like Unreal Tournament and Quake and Counter Strike. It is always better to have more number of games supporting Linux OS with time which will increase the number of users of Linux around the World.

The Limitation to this idea may be the wide range of Linux OSs releasing with time. There are a number of OSs like Red Hat's Fedora Core, Ubuntu, Debian etc...

AMX Mod X and Admin Mod Installation for Counter Strike 1.6 on Linux OS

AMX Mod X is also designed for the Versions of Counter Strike running on Linux OSs. AMX Mod X needs Metamod, as it runs on Metamod. The Metamod supports both Windows and Linux. This makes it possible for AMX Mod X to run in Linux too.

The AMX Mod X package for Linux can be downloaded from amxmodx.org. This package includes the Metamod for Linux. Or the Metamod alone can be downloaded from the website metamod.org. You can download the Linux version of the Metamod.

The same case holds good for Admin Mod also. You can install Admin Mod for Linux. You can download it from adminmod.org. File Download link is shown as halflife-adminmod and is available for Windows, Linux and also AMD64.

The Admin Mod installation is always made easier by making it a self extracting and installing package. You can do this by giving the command install_admin in the Terminal while you are in the directory where install_admin file is present. You just need to run the install_admin file with parameter as the mod name, in Linux OS to install the Admin Mod in Linux by opening the Terminal. It might ask you the path to the CS1.6 installation in Linux and adds the required binaries and writes the paths in required files like liblist.gam.

All the files are in tarball. So you can use winrar to extract the files. While in Linux the program package is given with the Linux installation itself.

Once the package has been downloaded, just extract it to get the files. These files should be placed in the addons folder of Counter Strike 1.6 installation. The folders should look like this,
  • cstrike\addons\metamod\dlls
  • cstrike\addons\amxmodx\configs
  • cstrike\addons\amxmodx\modules etc...

This is how the folder tree should be placed. Then you need to edit the liblist.gam file. The liblist.gam file is a text file which loads the required module for the game while it is running. The liblist.gam file previously contains the line gamedll_linux "dlls/mp.dll" change it to this gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_i386.so". The name of the file may change, but make sure that you are giving the correct file name for the OS and also 32 bit or 64 bit, because each OS has its own name and 32 or 64 bit has its own name. Like,

  • Windows 32 bit has its own metamod dll filename ending with .dll. (use gamedll)
  • Windows 64 bit has its own metamod dll filename ending with .dll. (use gamedll)
  • Linux 32 bit has its own metamod filename ending with .so. (use gamedll_linux)
  • Linux 64 bit has its own metamod filename ending with .so. (use gamedll_linux)

That's it, you are done installation of Metamod.

Now for the installation of AMX Mod and other mods, you need to download their packages and put where ever you want but put this line in the Metamod's plugins.ini file linux "path of the file" ex: linux "addons/amxmodx/dlls/amdmodx.so" or linux "addons/statsme/dlls/statsme.so" same for Admin Mod with the path to the .so file. See for the compatibility of Statsme plugin in 64 bit and Linux in its official website.

That's it. You can now finish the installation, unless you want to know how to install AMX Mod X addons like CSDM, GunGame Mod, Diablo Mod, Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne Mod in Linux. For this you just need to know how to install them in the windows. Just place the file sin their exact location comparing the folders in the downloaded package and the folders in the installation of CS1.6. It is same. You can see the topic of AMXX Plugins installation for much detailed complete explanation.

You may face a little difficulty in the Compilation of the AMXX Plugins in Linux which can be done just by running the other file which runs in Linux.

Metamod Binary for AMD64 and 64 bit OS

Meatmod is an addon for Half-Life and it mods which helps in changing the usage of the mod. This mod also supports a great number of other addons running on it like the AMX Mod X, Admin Mod ect... Metamod is available for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the Software on supported Hardware.

You can download the 64 bit Binary of the Metamod form its official website metamod.org. This site gives all the information and downloads of all the versions of the Metamod Binary. 64 bit version of any hardware is developed to make the processes run faster with dowuble the data transfer between any two components when compared to 32 bit. As per the addons of the Metamod, they may not be strictly of 64 bit to run on the 64 bit Metamod Binary. As many 64 Bit softwares does, Metamod may also support the 32 bit addons for it like the AMX Mod X, Admn Mod, Statsme etc...

The speed of the processes depends not only on the software it is used to trasfer the processes but also the main program. Like the fastest possible procesing can only be achieved only when the program AMX Mod X also is to make use of the 64 bit. Thus, any stage where there is an involvement of a 32 bit program results in slower processing speeds.

NFS Undercover on 64bit XP AMD64 and nVIDIA GeForce

NFSU System Requirements:

NFS Undercover is the Latest Version of the NFS games. As given in the system requirements, it needs a processor of speed better than 3.0GHz, RAM more than 512 MB, and a Graphic Card.

NFSU Performance on AMD64

The game NFS Undercover is working just normal on

AMD64 Athlon 3000+ 1.8GHz,
Asus M2N MX,
1 GB DDR2 RAM,
nVIDIA GeForce 8500GT 1GB 64bit Drivers
Win XP 64bit,
and DirectX 9.0c,
SATA HDD.

when the settings of the game are set to all low and some configuration variables to off, Resolution 800x600. Also all the other processes running on the OS are stopped. On overall review, the NFS Undercover performance can be stated as running slower on the configuration shown above. NFS Undercover definitely needs better requirements than NFS Pro Street. NFS Undercover is taking around 512MB of memory usage as shown in the Task Manager of WinXP.

The Game Performance can improved to a greater extent when the processor or the RAM or both are upgraded.

NFSU View

NFS Undercover is showing some similarities with the game NFS Most Wanted. This is when the Police cars chasing and in some other cases. The story as such is not clear in the starting. Differentiating the older versions, the types of races are new. It includes Dominating the race cars by getting the lead upto 1000ft etc.

NFSU vs NFSMW vs NFSPS

The new kind of races added may show some better interest. Coming to Graphics, The Graphics appear inferior to that of NFS MW at lower resolutions and low detail settings, like the shadow effects, car detail variables, world detail, world effects etc. The appearance of car too is very similar to that in the case of NFS Pro Street. The environment view or the world view is better in the case of NFS Pro Street out of these three. The game goes on as the racer roams in a city and engages races of different kind. GPS Navigation is available. Damage indicator is added in the right bottom at the location where Nitrous Oxide used to be shown in the other versions. The Time Slowdown also is available. Nitrous Oxide when used may not show any flames coming out. After all what matters is the game play. So, let us see, how well the game goes on.
