APOCALYPSE 09 Gaming Event at IITR by CHAOS Team

Gaming industry in India is getting it roots deeper, and I can say the Indian IITs, NITs and IIITs are the most active participants in making the industry grow in the country. The students who reach the colleges are screened by most difficult competitive exams called IIT-JEE and AIEEE which demand more than just subject knowledge. Apart from the high standards of studies, the institutes are known for their great Infrastructure and communication facilities. The institutions have good Intranet with good network support and maintenance which not only allows the students to make their subject research easier, but also lets them improve their creativity by organizing events between themselves. Gaming events are never an exception and are most widely organized including nation wide gaming competitions with great prizes. CHAOS is such a computer gaming event. A new event by the name Apocalypse is being launched by the same team.

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is sponsoring the Apocalypse 09. It is a core gaming event where you can compete in many multiplayer games. Lots of goodies are said to be distributed in the event. Below are the details of the event,

The LAN gamers of IITs and NITs

As a part of the title, I can say, there is a lot to learn by gaming. And hence there is a word called noob. I used to wonder why some one is called a noob after playing the game so many times. Its because, there are some 'x' number of parameters which decide how you play a game, and there exists a definite number 'y', y less than x which is needed to survive the game. And the number of parameters which one can know playing a game with out the support of the second person is most probably 'z', and z less than y.

What makes the IITians and NITians not the best but better players? Its the co-operation. I am not saying this, but, a crowd in a mass considers NITians to be more talented than many others. And when such a mind goes mad about something it results in a definite absolute outcome which could be the (best-1) solution. And when 2 such (best-1) solutions are shared and compared, there could be a (best-0.1) solution. I always leave the best to the one(might not be in any school even).

Finally the LAN of the NITs and IITs is an enormous library of such solutions and you can get tips on almost all the multipayer games. If you are in such a library, you can see the knowledge radiating out of your PCs. Thats what a world of gaming is. More over there is a class room fot the direct meeting and discussion for all the gamers.

In the 4 years of true education, you are going to emerge out as the best gamer. After all those are just games and so is life.

Setting Up Fastest Game Server and Web Servers for a Gaming LAN

The generation is widely interested on Gaming in PCs, PSPs, and XBOXs. A small business would mean a small turn out. But with the Gaming LANs set up at some streets would result in better results than normal. The gaming interests are spreading very widely. The gamers are making their interests a profession. Gaming over all is proving to be a profession more than a passion or just from an interest.

Multiplayer gaming is taking its roots from the major cities to villages. Clan gaming is rooting up in each and every gamer in cities and towns. Clans are ready show their talent. This is the right time to set up Gaming Arenas around.

Generally the budget for a normal Server or Web Servers takes more than what it needs for a normal PC and same is the case with Gaming Servers. Obviously, the speed requirements for a Gaming PC are more than the normal PCs and the applications too. Many of the applications developed in the past are so designed that they can be run on very basic systems. The Games being developed now are the other way. Their requirements show the latest systems released at their period.

This is the main problem in setting up a Gaming LAN, it always needs to be updated for each version of the game. This becomes expensive. In the other case, setting up Gaming LANs all around the villages and towns would make it as simple as a PC set up for playing.

Dell used to have their Laptops at reasonably lower prices but the time changed again. Of course, the desktops are better than laptops when it comes to gaming as the up gradation of desktops are better and easier to upgrade than laptops.

Set some servers with cheapest rates and upgrade them. A Gaming LAN should have a Web Server too for better results.
