AMX Mod X for Day of Defeat GunGame and CSDM Set up

What is AMX Mod X:

AMX Mod X is an administration utility for the mods of Half-life like Counter Strike 1.6, CS:Condition Zero, and many more games. AMX Mod X provides many features like in-game on-screen statistics with player names and scores. It provides in-game on-screen menu for controlling the server like giving information, map changes etc. It also has plugins which can change the gameplay of the gae itself. The plugins used for gameplay chage are like GunGame, CSDM etc... These plugins are very popular in CS . DoD GunGame and DoD CSDM can also be played with the help of AMX Mod X.

Download AMX Mod X:

You can download and install AMX Mod X form the internet its free, the download link is given in this blog or just go to amxmodx website. The latest version. The links given in the amxmodx website contain AMX Mod X for Cstrike, DoD and all. You can download the complete package if you want to. Or AMX Mod X for Dod is enough to work with DoD.

Setting up AMX Mod X:

If you have downloaded the installer file. Just run it. It will install the AMXX Studio and the package installer. The package installer runs just after the first installer finishes. Now it asks for some options like,

• Steam Dedicated Server
• Steam Listen Server
• Standalone Server
• Select Mod Directory

Select Mod Directory will be the best option and we will go for it. There is no need to check the remote ftp option below the four options. A window opens up with the name chose directory as shown below,

Now, just select Day of Defeat, in the Custom game addon as shown and DoD folder in your Half-life installation folder. Just select DoD folder and press OK. If it says that there is liblist.gam file missing, then you have given a wrong folder or folder which is not installed properly. If you give the folder correctly, the setup will start and finishes. Now, you have your server set up with AMX Mod X.

Installing Plugins in AMX Mod X

There are some plugins which can be used in the AMX Mod X for changing the gameplay of the game to something else than normal. These pluigns are GunGame, CSDM, and other mods. For installing plugins to your AMX Mod X, you need to downlaod them from the internet. These plugins are available in the amxmodx website itself.

Get these plugins and just take the .amxx files from the package and put them in addons\amxmodx\plugins folder of amxmodx. Now add these names of the .amxx files to plugins.ini in the addons\amxmodx\configs folder. You should add the complete name of the .amxx files correctly including .amxx also. Now run the game, you will get the plugins running.

Put these files in addons\amxmodx\plugins folderIf your plugins do not work, put the .sma files in scripting folder of amxmodx fodler in DoD and .inc folders in include folder of scripting folder. Now, run compile.exe. You will get the compiled and then add the lines to addons\amxmodx\configs\plugins.ini. Thats it. Now you should be able to run the plugins. Addition of each plugin will add some console comands too. For the commads of the plugin added, go to site where you have downloaded the plugins.

Half-Life:
Half-Life is the game designed by valve software ltd. It is a first person shooter game. Its basic game play consists of some players playing against each other and shooting, similar to quake but there are many differences. The game requires a server run by one of the payers or a dedicated server.

Hlaf-Life through hl.exe:
This is the application to run the game Half-Life. You can play the above described game through this application. Through this application, you can create a standalone server or play by joining in the servers which you can search in the game. The GUI also contains an option to change the game to its modifications.

HLDS through hlds.exe:
If you are not willing to play a game but you are kind to your friends in your college LAN, you can start this application. This application lets them play the game with other friends. But the server is yours. Means you are the administrator of the current game being played. You can change the map or can change other settings. You can run this application called hlds.exe to start the server.

HLTV through hltv.exe
This is useful to spectate your friends playing. If there is a league going on between two teams, you are not allowed to join into the game. It will be password protected. So the Admin of the league, if he is kind to others willing to see the match, will start the HLTV and connect to the server of the league. Now you can connect to that HLTV without any password. This will allow you to see the game though that proxy but you are not actually in the original server.

Steam:
If you have played other games online some time, you might have definitely known about Game Spy Arcade. The Steam is similar to Game Spy Arcade.

There are many games played online. The Players need a standard platform to know about each other or to just play with each other with ease. These applications like Steam and gamespy Arcade allow the players to search their co-players from all around the world. Mods are modifications of the game. They can be modified to anything. And a mod may again have another mod.

Modifications of the game Half-Life are Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, Natural Selection, Team Fortress et cetera.

Modifications of Counter Strike Game are Counter Strike Death Match (CSDM), GunGame, Warcraft et cetera.

Counter Strike
It is the modification of the game. In this game, the gameplay consist two teams fighting for a task. In the maps like de, T team tries to Plant a bomb with in given time. The CT Team tries to Counter thier plans or to guard the places of most importance, the bomb sites. These de maps are most famous.

Versions of Counter Strike:
From 1-1.6, Condition Zero, Source. Versions from 1-1.6 and Condition Zero run on Half-Life. Source Version runs on Half-Life 2.

Day of Defeat:
Modification of the game Half-Life with different game play.

Natural Selection:
Modification of the game Half-Life with different game play.

AMX MOD X
This is a modearator for the games like Counter Strike, Condition Zero, Day of Defeat and other mods of half life. This makes the administration of the server easier. This can be used to modify the Counter Strike, Day of Defeat etc.

Counter Strike Death Macth(CSDM)
