Why games are good for kids

I don't know why they are good and I don't whether they are good or not. This is because, whether they are good or bad is dependent on many factors. Mainly your future goals. If you want to make the kid a good game programmer, you need to let him know something about games, however young he may be. There are game testers working around to find bugs in games, and this is their professional job.

If you ask any one about how important is physical education department in a college, he will talk about it. Physical Education Department mainly focuses on physical exercises and sports. They teach how to exercise and give some practicals to improve the physic. Then how about mental education, knowing about the subject is knowledge. Then how do you improve your mental strength and skill, you need to play mind games. Chess and other puzzle games are very prominent in increasing the thought process and so are Computer and Video Games. You need to put your mind to play any Video Game. But there are some games which demand sound mental strength to finish and very good knowledge and skill to win over them.

If you take games like Prince of Persia series, you can see that you need to put some mind to find the path in which you need to go. It started from the very old versions of the game, the MS-DOS Prince of Persia games, you need to put some mind. More over, you need superb mind body collaboration. The calculations should be going on in your mind about the exact time of the key press based on the time it takes to perform the operation. I can say that the new versions have just made it complex and are trying to make things simpler gamers by disabling some operations and performing them automatically. This is called as masking as far as I know, where they disable manual key operations. Things like this will affect the mind of the gamers very badly.

To the game programmers and designers
If the designer made the operation complex, that's his problem. I have nothing to do with him, let me play my
Game Masking is not a good idea at all. The gamer always tries to get complete control of whats in the game and does not want to take help of some one just because he is failing to do it. A better idea is to add a cheat code to it, so that if some one wants to use it, they can. That too after trying some number of times which make them feel 'this is enough'. Game Masking should not look like a disability of the programmer put on the gamer. I am not saying that I can cross any difficulty in gaming, but it nice to make it experienced by the gamer himself.

Like this, not the interest but there are many factors which decide the necessity of games for kids.
