BSNL calls and asks to check out the Games On Demand for a one month trail

Gaming On Demand is a service offered by BSNL in partnership with IndiaGames. This GOD Service is for BroadBand users. In this service, you can play games via broadband. The data transfer for the games you play wont be counted into your regular data transfer. And understood from the website GoD, the data transfer for Games is unlimited. Make sure it is before you take it for granted.

The plans are like this,
  1. Rs 100 per month for 167 games
  2. Rs 200 per month for 300 games (All games)
And the website says, new games are added every week.

So, coming to the games, Age of Empires The Conquerors is included, thats a good news for me, secondly Counter Strike 1.6 is not included in the games list. This is very bad new for the same me. But you can see the tab saying CS Servers, in that page, I can see some servers with 59.xxx and 203.xxx, looks little confusing.

Is it that the Counter Strike game connected to those servers wont be counted or is it that they are just giving those servers and it will be counted to the regular Broadband? This what I need to clarify.

Now to conclude, no matter how many times I play the game, I can download the games officially, its a very good feature. Thanks to BSNL. I look forward to make this Gaminglan more closer community to the BSNL GoD.

BSNL Broadband Games on Demand Service for Multiplayer Gaming Tariff

BSNL and many more Broadband service providers are providing the Games on Demand Service. The BSNL GoD Service can be subscribed with two plans namely Standard and Premium. The Standard would be charging Rs.100/- per month and Premium with Rs.200/- per month.

The service allows the users to play games online for specified amount of data transferred. The games are to be selected in the plan while subscribing. The Plan charges are also related to the number of games being selected for gaming through Broadband. The games list can be seen at indiagames website which is the official partner for this service run by many service providers.

Normal gaming takes around some 100 MB per 10 hours very approximately. This service will allow you to play games of all kinds given in their list with much cheaper charges for that gaming for multi player online.

The packet sent from the PC from which the games are being played consist of the information of the application or the game which is sending the packet. So the server at the BSNL would take it as the free packet in the normal Broadband usage.

BSNL service should be improved and also needs to be publicized well to have their services run better. BSNL always appears to be least concerned about the publicity , which is the major part. Atleast, the plans of Broadband and Cell Phones are not being publicised well.

Best ISP for least Latency for Gaming in India

There are many players in India who think gaming to be something more than fun and entertainment, to be specific considering it a profession. Especially like the games Counter Strike. It is very much necessary to have a good ISP for getting the connection with good and low latencies for gaming for games like Counter Strike. In India, the bigger service providers like BSNL, Airtel, Tata Indicom and Reliance have good network and maintenance. It is very important to select the service provider very wisely.

Know This:

Bandwidth and latency are like Voltage and Current, two different parameters. Simply speaking, Quantity and Speed.

List of Some ISPs in India:

  1. AIRCEL
  2. Airtel Broadband 50-60ms.
  3. at&t
  4. BSNL Broadband 80-100ms.
  5. Connect
  6. GTL
  7. Hathway
  8. HCL
  9. Karnet
  10. MTNL - 30-70ms
  11. netmagic
  12. Pacenet
  13. Reach
  14. Reliance Broadband - 70-80ms
  15. Sify
  16. TATA Indicom
  17. Worldnet - 10-20ms
  18. World Phone
  19. You
  20. and many more...

Tips by What People Experienced:

  1. Better play within the network of ISP for better ping.
  2. Better to use least number of mediator applications which process the packet data.
  3. Better to use faster routers for better pings.

From Hyderabad, India - around 200ms latency to play in Counter Strike Singapore Servers. And in the Game AOE, the ping would be 200-380ms. Just a one time observation. The Bandwidth is good.
